Design Parallel
The Chevrolet Colorado has gained some major muscle and undergone much-needed exterior modifications, as evident from a single glance. It seems like a true-blue American truck because it has grown while keeping the butch appeal of its predecessor.
The Colorado now has a more masculine appearance thanks to its radically reworked front fascia, bold-looking all-black grille, thinner all-LED headlamps, chunkier-looking tires, and flared wheel arches with sharp edges. The Colorado now comes in the tough Trail Boss variant in addition to the ZR2 version, both of which up the fear factor with their extreme off-road appeal.
The new Chevrolet Colorado has made the Honda Ridgeline appear less menacing in contrast. Do not misunderstand us; the Honda Ridgeline has only recently undergone a front fascia revision for the 2021 year.
It simply lacks the Colorado’s distinctive toughness and elevated stance, though. The Honda Ridgeline looks passable thanks to the sparing use of chrome up front, but aside from that, it simply lacks the new Colorado’s masculine appeal and desire factor.
Interior & Infotainment
The 2023 Chevrolet Colorado had to have a more up-to-date and feature-rich cabin than the Honda Ridgeline because it was a more recent model. We didn’t anticipate the gap to be this large, though. In terms of comfort, convenience, and attractiveness, the Chevrolet Colorado has significantly surpassed Ridgeline’s benchmarks. The Colorado’s interior has undergone a total makeover by Chevrolet, making it more energizing and technologically advanced than ever. a great deal more than the unassuming Honda Ridgeline.
The spacious layout of the cockpit, which features an 11.3-inch colored entertainment system stretching towards the center of the dashboard and an 8-inch completely digital color instrument console next to it, is the centerpiece of the new 2023 Chevrolet Colorado. The Colorado has a redesigned cockpit in addition to circular AC vents that resemble propellers, wrapped and stitched knee padding on the doors, contrast stitching, and piano black inserts to improve the cabin’s aesthetics.
In contrast, the Honda Ridgeline’s interior design, which features a traditional center console and cluttered housing for buttons, can be said to have a more vintage appearance. Even the conventional infotainment system, which is buried inside, cannot compete with the Colorado’s modern touchscreen, which appears to be larger and more user-friendly.
Performance Comparison
The 2018 Chevrolet Colorado’s engine is the same 2.7-liter inline-four turbocharged gasoline unit that also powers the more potent Silverado. The full-fledged ZR2 version of this new 2.7-liter gasoline engine produces 430 lb-ft of torque in its greatest form. It has a lot more torque than the Honda Ridgeline’s 3.5-liter normally aspirated V6 gasoline engine, which produces 262 lb-ft of torque.
Even the Colorado range’s top power output is 310 horsepower, as opposed to the Honda Ridgeline’s advertised 280 horsepower. These are heavy-duty pickup trucks designed to tow loads, when greater outputs of power and torque are desired. It is here that, while losing the displacement game, the Colorado shines above the Ridgeline.
Ability To Travel Off-road
A full-fledged off-road monster variant is something that the brand-new Chevrolet Colorado offers that the Honda Ridgeline series just does not have. And to our great delight, Chevrolet has now released two of these Colorado variants: the Trail Boss and ZR2.
The Chevrolet Colorado gains a more towering posture in the more extreme ZR2 variants thanks to redesigned front and rear bumpers for greater approach and departure angles and 17-inch wheels with 33-inch mud/terrain tires.
Furthermore, the Colorado receives off-road-specific equipment. It is equipped with rocker panel protection, an aluminum skid plate, adjustable front and rear locking differentials, segment-exclusive Multimatic DSSV dampers, customized cast-iron control arms, and a modified rear axle with a 3.42 ratio.
Verdict
Due to all of these factors, the Chevrolet Colorado ZR2 can travel farther off the beaten path than the Honda Ridgeline could dare.
To reclaim Chevrolet’s position at the top of the midsize truck market, the brand-new 2023 Chevrolet Colorado is here. This new third-generation model is a nice addition after the second-generation Colorado ran for seven long years. especially as it has far better interiors and is wider, longer (in wheelbase as well). The latter shift may be the most welcome.
The Colorado’s primary rivals, the Ford Ranger, Toyota Tacoma, and Honda Ridgeline, are aging vehicles.
